Artenara: a traditions fair and homes carved into the rock
On 1 November, Artenara hosts the 6th Traditions Fair. Stalls sell local crafts and produce, and the programme includes music, folk traditions, traditional dishes and craft demonstrations, so you can see how things are made and taste local cooking. Children have their own activities, including bouncy castles and face painting, which makes the village a good family destination for the day.
What sets Artenara apart are its cave houses, homes carved into the rock that remain part of local life. Walking through the village, you can see why people here built into the mountain rather than on it. Start at Plaza de San Matías in the centre and continue to the Balcón de Unamuno viewpoint, with the Tejeda Basin and the Nublo and Bentayga rock formations in the distance. Gáldar: a Sunday market and the island’s pre-Hispanic past
Gáldar’s Agricultural Market takes place at Plaza de Santiago on Sundays 1, 15 and 29 November, from 9:00 to 13:30. You’ll find seasonal fruit and vegetables, cheese, honey, bread, sweets and other handmade products. It’s a market for local people that sells produce from the area, not a fair set up for visitors.
Afterwards, head to the Cueva Pintada in the town centre. Gáldar was one of the most important centres of pre-Hispanic Gran Canaria, and the Archaeological Museum and Park tells that story. Walk among the remains of the old settlement and see the paintings, protected beneath a modern structure. Winter Pride: a week of shows, pool parties and the Pride Walk in Maspalomas
From 2 to 8 November, Maspalomas hosts Winter Pride, an LGBTQ+ festival that, according to the organisers, attracts more than 40,000 visitors from around the world. The week features live shows, pool parties, excursions and the Pride Walk, the festival’s most visible event.

Tejeda: the Km.0 Fair and local produce beneath Roque Nublo
On 14 and 15 November, Tejeda’s main street fills with stalls for Feria Km.0 Gran Canaria, a travelling fair for food and farm products grown or made on the island. You’ll find cheese, honey, wine, fruit and vegetables, bread, pastries and gofio. You can taste the products, ask the producers how they’re made and buy from them directly, away from the usual tourist circuit.
With the Tejeda Basin around you and the Nublo and Bentayga rock formations in view, you’re buying cheese and honey in the same mountain landscape they come from. After the fair, a stroll through the village and a stop at a viewpoint fill the rest of the day without a long hike. Santa Brígida con Vinos: wineries, tastings and the Bandama landscape
From 1 to 29 November, Santa Brígida celebrates wine with 17 activities at wineries, vineyards and wine presses. The Monte Lentiscal wine-growing area lies next to Bandama’s volcanic landscape, and the Town Council highlights its wine presses and wine routes as part of the local heritage. Wine here is a good reason to explore the municipality.
