1. La Rama Festival in Agaete
Every 4 August, thousands of people take to the streets of Agaete, dancing to the rhythm of the bands during La Rama, a festival that has been declared of National Tourist Interest.
In 2026, the La Rama procession begins at 10:00 am, followed by the Retreta at 10:00 pm, with celebrations closing in a fireworks display. Round off the day with a visit to Puerto de las Nieves and the natural pools at Las Salinas.
2. Maspalomas Lighthouse Craft Fair
The Gran Canaria Verano Sur Craft Fair runs from 7 to 16 August, 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, next to Maspalomas Lighthouse.
Browse and buy jewellery, textiles, toys, leather goods and other locally made products. The location also makes it easy to combine a visit with an afternoon at Maspalomas or Meloneras beach.
3. San Lorenzo Fireworks
The San Lorenzo Festival runs from 31 July to 16 August, with concerts, folk performances, markets, children’s activities and open-air parties.
The highlight comes in the early hours of 9–10 August, with the traditional fireworks display. Given the large crowds, it’s a good idea to check access routes and public transport options in advance.
4. Live Music in the South: Events at Nomad
Looking for live music in the south of Gran Canaria? Nomad has two special events lined up this August to soak up the atmosphere of Maspalomas.
On Wednesday 12 August at 7:00 pm, watch the eclipse from the Nomad terrace with live music from Havana 500 — an original way to experience one of the month’s most eagerly anticipated astronomical events.
On Saturday 15 August at 9:00 pm, Jarana Veraniega takes place with Star Music. Falling on the public holiday, it’s a great chance to extend your evening with food, music and entertainment in the south of the island.
Admission to both events is free, and Nomad also has more than 10 food outlets and up to 4 hours of free parking, making it a convenient option for families, couples and groups of friends.
5. Km.0 Fair
On 15 and 16 August, Fontanales hosts the Km.0 Gran Canaria Fair, bringing together more than 45 producers from across the island.
From 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, discover cheeses, honey, bread, fruit, vegetables, coffee, pastries, wine and craft beer — a great chance to sample locally sourced produce and explore the interior of Gran Canaria.
6. An Afternoon at Holidayworld Maspalomas

7. The Partial Solar Eclipse
On Wednesday 12 August at 7:00 pm, the Nomad terrace offers a special spot for watching the eclipse, with live music from Havana 500 — one of the month’s most eagerly anticipated astronomical events.
The eclipse can be viewed safely using approved eye protection.
8. Virgen de la Cuevita Festival
The Virgen de la Cuevita celebration is one of Artenara’s most important traditional festivals. Its main day falls on the last Sunday of August — 30 August in 2026.
During the celebration, the statue returns to its chapel in a torchlit procession accompanied by offerings. A visit also gives you the chance to discover one of the most distinctive villages in Gran Canaria’s interior.
